FAQS
WHERE DO YOU HOLD YOUR ASSESSMENTS?
Assessments take place at my home in Hertford, Hertfordshire.
CAN YOU TRAVEL TO ME?
I prefer to do assessments in my own home, but in some situations I will travel. Travel costs are calculated as follows: Inside M25 is £115 plus £8.60 per mile, Outside M25 is £65 plus 8.60 per mile
CAN ANYONE USE YOUR ASSESSMENT SERVICE?
Although my assessments are aimed at school-aged children, almost anyone can sit them if they would like to. The Visual and Motor assessments are suitable for ages 2 - 99, the IQ assessment for ages 3 - 90, and the English and Maths assessments for ages 4 - 85Â age.
HOW DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR ASSESSMENTS?
When confirming an assessment, a 50% deposit is taken at the time of booking. The balance needs to be paid in full at least 7 days before the assessment date.
I CAN’T MAKE MY ASSESSMENT DATE; WHAT DO I DO?
For any cancellations made within 7 days of the assessment date, a full refund is given. For any cancellations made between 7 days and 24 hours of the assessment, the option to move the assessment to a different date is offered, and if this is not appropriate, a refund of 90% is given. For any cancellations made within 24 hours of the assessment, the option to move the assessment to a different date is offered, and if this is not appropriate, a refund of 50% is given.
WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY?
All assessments start at 10am, regardless of their length. For any assessment lasting an hour or less, a parent is allowed to wait in a designated waiting area in the house. No siblings are allowed, unless they are also being assessed that day. For any assessment lasting more than 1 hour, parents are requested to drop their child off and return at the agreed time. For full day assessments, please provide your child with a packed lunch, drink and snacks. They will receive regular breaks throughout the day.
CAN I STAY IN THE ROOM WITH MY CHILD DURING THE ASSESSMENT?
No, I’m afraid parents are unable to remain in the room during the assessments. I understand that some children may be nervous at first, and we can build in time at the beginning to allow your child to feel comfortable before you leave, but in order for the assessment to be as accurate as possible, parents need to leave the room for the duration.
WHAT IF MY CHILD CAN'T READ YET?
The assessments I used are designed with all ages in mind. For the younger students who are more likely to be pre-readers, the subtests I administer are different to those for older students. This removes the requirement of being able to read and still gives an accurate overview of your child's ability.
